Kuban Cossacks Association, Inc.,
Library & Museum
August, 1996, at Kuban Cossack Corporation Library and Museum, located in New Jersey,
the community of the Kuban Cossacks celebrated 300 years of the Kuban Cossack Army
("Voisko") with gathering of good friends, traditional music, remembrance of
heritage. The event must have lasted 12 hours. Some Cossacks were dressed in traditional
uniforms. They were carrying old Kuban Army ("Voisko") banners and flags (some
over 200 years old).
It's quite a large organization, as there are stanizias in US, Canada and Australia.
Kuban Cossack Corporation Library and Museum is dedicated to preserving Cossack heritage
and educating for future generations. There are many members who are Don Cossacks, and the
organization welcomes ALL Cossacks. Most original members are deceased and are buried in
the Sveto-Vladimir cemetary. This area around Lakewood NJ was settled by many Russians
including Cossacks after the Civil War and again after WW2. The Museum has an excellent
collection of Cossack flags, uniforms, weapons, and Imperial Russia era documents granting land
and liberties to the Cossacks.
